Album Review--Ashanti: The Declaration

OMG NOOOOO! I had so much hope for this album, and yet again I was left disappointed. Ashanti, it's been four years! FOUR YEARS and you come back with "I got that Good Good" ??? You cant be serious. Here's my track by track analyses Track Two: The way that I love you, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song! If you go down to my previous post, I commented on the video to this song, and expressed my admiration for it. The beat is crazy, the lyrics are sick and you can feel her growth. Wonderful track none the less. Track Three You're Gonna Miss: I cant say I hate it. However, the lyrics are weak, the beat is real lite and poppy which is cool in a way, and she using the T-Pain instrument (no no). It almost sounds like it should've been on her first album. Track Four So Over You: I'm feeling it! The melody gives it a summer feel which is cool. I like the breakdown before and in middle of the choirs. DarkChild killed the beat! The lyrics are...better then track two. Like it! Track Five Struggle: There's something that's not right about this song. The beat is lite, but it would be better if you didn't listen to the rapping styled singing. It's funny because if you remember Nelly and Tim McGraw's song "Over and Over" it sounds exactly the same. Dont like it! Track Six Girlfriend: This is more of a slow love making song. The lyrics are good, it's hard to go wrong with this kind of melody. Like it! Track Seven Things you make me do. Feat. Robin Thicke: This is a very sensual song. I like it alot. Robin sounds great. They compliment one another voices well. The lyrics are hot and the beat is very smooth and relaxing. Like it! Track Eight In These Streets: Okay first off, rename the song please. Stop with all the "being hood" mess! I'm not feeling it! I'm also not really feeling the song. The lyrics are cool, but I feel like she was all over the place on this one. Th beat is real mellow and I enjoyed that, but i feel like she was trying to hard with the vocals. Dont like it! Track Nine Good Good: OMG are you serious? JD! Why did you do this to her? This is pure bullshit! HATE IT! Track Ten Body On Me: Is this a remake of Mezmerized? Come on now!!! Haven't you guys learned from your mistakes yet? Acon? please stop the madness! Track Eleven Mother: LOVE IT! This song is perfect! Very heartfelt and poetic. Her vocals are great, and the lyrics are amazing. I think it's sweet she made a song for her mother. Like it. Track Twelve Shine: The typical up lifting song. The kids at the end sound really cute! like it! Track 13 The Declaration: Love it! This song goes pretty hard. I can see this being her next single because the rest of the song don't compare. The beat is crazy, the lyrics are real because she declaring her position in the game. Plus I believe she talking about Irv Gotta (just a thought) lol. Over all, I'll Grade this album with a C+. Ashanti, I don't want to give up on you, but you're making it very hard for me not to.

I'm a huge Ashanti fan and absolutely love this cd.

But I respect your review because I can tell you actually listened to the cd and then expressed your opinion..that's all you can really ask for.

I don't agree with you at all about "Struggle"..take another listen..I love that song.

The two weakest songs on the cd to me, her man had something to do with and that was "Good Good" she said Nelly help co-write that and "Body On Me" both songs are about nothing and unfortunately will probably be the ones that will be the biggest hits off the cd.
